Biography:

Sports motivational speaker for hire Vin Scully is an iconic, one-of-a-kind sportscaster who spent his entire 67-year broadcasting career in the booth for the Los Angeles Dodgers of the MLB. He is regarded as the all-time greatest announcer in baseball history and holds the record for the longest tenure with a single professional team by any play-by-play announcer in sports history. Vin infused his own unique style into every broadcast and is remembered for his hilariously informative on-air stories that were seemingly ordinary but unwrapped a hidden piece of wisdom by story’s end. Vin received numerous industry awards throughout his lengthy career in sports broadcasting and upon his retirement in 2016, Vin was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.

Motivational sports speaker Vin Scully knew by age 8 that he wanted to be a sportscaster. After serving in the U.S. Navy for 2 years, Vin attended Fordham University and worked as an announcer for the school’s baseball, football and basketball. He helped found the school’s FM station WFUV which now awards a Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award each year. Vin’s first broadcasting gig after college was with a CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. as a fill-in announcer. CBS Sports Network director Red Barber took notice of his on-air abilities and added him to the network’s college football coverage. A year later, Vin joined Barber as a part of the Dodger’s radio and TV broadcasting team.

From 1950-2016, Vin Scully earned his stripes as the voice of the Dodgers. At just 25-years-old in 1953, Vin became the youngest announcer ever to call a World Series game (a record that still stands today). He was there when the Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and was on-hand for all 6 of the team’s World Series titles. In addition to his work with the Dodgers, he served as an announcer and host for a number of sporting events and programs off and on for CBS and NBC throughout his career in broadcasting. Vin’s incredible storytelling abilities and truly entertaining personality continue to make him one of the most requested sports keynote speakers for corporate conferences, sports ceremonies, fundraising galas and other special events.
