Sports Speaker Tom Seaver is considered by many to be the best baseball player ever to play for the New York Mets but those close to him say they know him more for his kind heart, lovable personality and unwavering determination. During his long and successful career as a starting pitcher, Tom pitched for the Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox. He is most remembered for his successful years with the Mets in which he won 3 NL Cy Young Awards, lead the NL in strikeouts 5 times and helped pitch the team to their first World Series title in 1969. Tom was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992, earning the highest percentage of votes in MLB history with 98.84% of the vote.

Sports Speaker Tom Seaver ended his career in 1986 with the Boston Red Sox, but Tom will always be known as a beloved member of the New York Mets. He was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame in 1988 and is one of only four players to have his jersey number retired. In 2006, he was chosen by ESPN as the official Hometown Hero for the Mets franchise.

Following his playing career, Tom worked with NBC as a featured color-commentator for Mets and Yankees broadcasts. Tom has always been great on camera and even served as a guest analyst on World Series broadcasts for NBC and ABC while he was still pitching in the MLB. He has since opened his own wine vineyard called Seaver Family Vineyards.

In 2009, Sports Speaker Tom Seaver faced the greatest challenge of his life when he was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Although living with Lyme Disease is difficult, Seaver remains positive and wants to serve as beacon of hope to others living with the disease.
