Sports Speaker Scott Hamilton is a retired American figure skater, cancer survivor, bestselling author and philanthropist who won the Gold Medal in Men’s singles at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. Scott is widely sought after Keynote Speaker who talks about his life experiences and overcoming adversity as an elite athlete and sports commentator. He has provided keynote speeches for many companies, brands and organizations including Bank of America, Liberty Mutual and the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists. In 2015, Scott was one of the featured Keynote Speakers at the Doha Goals Forum in Los Angeles speaking on how sports can mobilize movements for social change. Whether he’s commentating on the live skating action or delivering a keynote speech, Scott’s energy is contagious.

Sports Speaker Scott Hamilton got her first taste of Olympic action when he came in 5th at the Men’s singles event during the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York. He then won 4 straight U.S. Figure Skating Championships and 4 straight World Championships from 1981-1984 before his big Gold Medal win at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games. After turning pro, Scott created his own skating tour, now known as Stars on Ice. He was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 1990.

Beginning in 1985, Scott began working as a skating commentator for CBS. This was the start of a very successful TV career that eventually blossomed into acting roles on TV shows and featured films including Fox’s King of the Hill and the film Blades of Glory starring Will Ferrell. In 2009, he appeared as a contestant on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. He still makes regular appearances as a guest on the Today Show, E! Entertainment broadcasts and other entertainment news programs.

Sports Speaker Scott Hamilton was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1997. Since overcoming the disease, Scott has embraced a new outlook on life. One in which he helps and encourages others in various aspects of their lives by sharing his own stories of perseverance in the face of life’s challenges. He created his own foundation called the Scott Hamilton Cancer Alliance for Research, Education and Survivorship. Scott also currently sits on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics International.
