Biography:

Sports motivational speaker for hire Roger Staubach is a legendary NFL quarterback who played his entire 11-year career with the Dallas Cowboys. Nicknamed Captain Comeback, Roger was the definition of a leader and brought home 2 Super Bowl titles with the Cowboys in 1972 and 1978. He was the first of only 4 players in football history to win a Heisman Trophy and a Super Bowl MVP. After retiring from the NFL, Roger went on to become an accomplished businessman in commercial real estate. Today, he travels the country as a motivational keynote speaker sharing his lessons in leadership, commitment, and teamwork in business and life.

Roger was a standout star on the field for The U.S. Naval Academy during his college years and he was ranked the 9th best college football player of all-time in a recent poll from ESPN. He won the Heisman Trophy his junior season with the team and is the last player from Navy to be awarded college football’s highest honor. Upon graduating, Staubach volunteered for a 1-year tour in Vietnam before spending the rest of his 4-year commitment at bases in the United States.

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Roger in 1964 despite the fact that he would not actually join the team until his military commitment was fulfilled. He officially joined the team in 1969 and earned the starting job early in the 1971 season and never looked back. The next year he won the first of 2 career Super Bowls and went on to make 6 Pro Bowl appearances during the 1970’s. He put up the best statistics of his career during his final season in the NFL in 1979 but declined the Cowboys options to stay with the team 2 more seasons in order to protect his long-term health after a total of 20 documented concussions over the course of his career. Roger will always be remembered as the face of America’s Team with an uncanny ability to lead his team to numerous comeback victories.

Away from the playing field, Roger started his own commercial real estate business, The Staubach Company, in 1977 while still playing in the NFL. He had spent the off-seasons learning the tricks of the trade with a real estate company called the Henry S. Miller Company because he wanted to be sure he would have a back-up career should he get injured or lose his spot in the NFL. He sold the company to Jones Lang LaSalle in 2008 for $613 million and now serves as an executive chairman for Jones Lang LaSalle.
