Not many football players will decide to go to college and major in such a difficult subject as engineering. Suh on the other hand took his education to the next level and was able to successfully earn his degree while continuing to be one of the best defensive tackles in the NCAA. His senior year he became the first defensive tackle in school history to lead the team in tackles and won multiple prestigious awards including the Associated Press Player of the Year Award, Chuck Bednarik Award and Lombardi Award. His ferocious approach to defense has now made him one of the most dominating defensive ends in the NFL with the Detroit Lions.

Sports speaker Ndamukong was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the number 2 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. In his first year with the Lions he was named Rookie of the Year, made the All-NFL team and was also chosen to attend the Pro Bowl. This was the first time a rookie defensive player had been selected to be a started in the Pro Bowl and has been a recurring player at the post season All-Star event. In 2014, Ndamukong and star teammates Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford all helped lead the Lions to their first playoff berth since 1999. Over the course of his career he has garnered a number of endorsement deals including deals with Nike, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Subway among others.

Ndamukong regularly hosts his own football camp in the city of Detroit for underprivileged children in the area. During the year he also takes time out of his day to visit his local children hospital and has done so since he was in college. After securing a multi-year deal in the NFL, Ndamukong donated $2.6 million back to his alma mater with $2 million going to the school’s athletic program and the rest of the money to fund a scholarship for the college of engineering.
