Sports Speaker Nastia Liukin is the daughter of Russian gymnasts Valeri Liukin and Anna Kotchneva, but she made her own mark in the gymnastics world after becoming 2008 women’s artistic all-around champion at the Beijing Olympics. That same year, Nastia was named the United States Olympic Committee Co-Sportswoman of the Year with swimmer Natalie Coughlin, the International Gymnastics Federation Athlete of the Year, and the USA Gymnastics Sportswoman of the Year. After officially competing for the last time in 2012, Liukin has channeled her strong work ethic and drive into all of her recent endeavors.

Liukin’s success in the gymnastics world has resulted in many endorsement deals and appearances following her retirement. She is currently partnered with AT&T, Visa, GK Elite Sportswear, Subway, and Longines. Liukin serves as the Longines Sports Ambassador of Elegance and designs both a line of gymnastics equipment for American Athletic Inc. and Supergirl by Nastia, a clothing line for junior girls featured in JCPenney. CoverGirl also used Nastia as a spokesperson, along with her teammates Shawn Johnson and Alicia Sacramone. Nastia is no stranger to the world of television either—a 2008 Adidas commercial featured both Nastia and ex-gymnast Nadia Comaneci, and Nastia has been in multiple Subway commercials alongside noteworthy individuals such as Michael Phelps, Blake Griffin, Ryan Howard, CC Sabathia, and Robert Griffin III.

Nastia has been staying busy as a college student at New York University where she studies sports management while simultaneously serving as an NBC Olympic correspondent and gymnastics analyst. In her spare time Nastia finds a way to give back; her foundation, the Nastia Liukin Fund, provides assistance to help financially disadvantaged athletes stay in the sport of gymnastics. In 2008, Nastia partnered with World Vision to give aid to victims of Hurricane Ike in Texas.
