Biography:

Sports motivational speaker for hire Mark Spitz is one of the most iconic Olympians of all time and a highly-sought after motivational speaker for sports ceremonies, business conferences, leadership summits and other business events. Mark won 7 Gold Medals at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, a record that has stood for decades and was only recently eclipsed by Michael Phelps when he won 8 Gold Medals in a single Olympics at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In the summer of 2016, Mark served as a chosen member of the Presidential Delegation representing the United States in Rio de Janeiro at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Mark is a California native who held 17 national swimming records by the time he was 10 years old. At 15, he competed in his first international competition and won 4 Gold Medals at the Maccabiah Games in 1965. Mark set his first world record just 2 years later at a meet in California and officially arrived on the world swimming stage. At the 1967 Pan American Games, Mark set a new world record with 5 total Gold Medals in a single Pan American Games.

Mark entered the 1968 Olympic Games with 10 world records to his name. He won 2 team Gold Medals and 1 Silver and 1 Bronze individual medal but was determined to prove to the world that he belonged at the top of the podium. He decided to attend Indiana University where he could swim under legendary swim coach Doc Counsilman who was also his Olympic coach in 1968. He won 8 individual NCAA titles during his college career and returned to the Olympic Games in 1972 in top form sporting his famous moustache.

Mark blew the competition out of the water setting a new world record in all 7 events on his way to 7 Gold Medals. However, as a Jewish athlete, Mark was forced to leave the country before the closing ceremonies when Palestinian terrorists targeted Jewish athletes in a hostage situation now known as the Munich Massacre. He returned to the United States a hero and earned lucrative endorsement contracts with companies including Schick Razors, Speedo swimsuits and the California Milk Advisory Board. Mark also started his own successful real estate business in California and dabbled in stockbroking and private equity.

Today, he is a top motivational speaker for corporate events sharing stories from his life as an Olympic icon and helping audiences find the Olympic champion within themselves. He is an engaging motivational speaker who can tailor his message to fit the demographic at each event he keynotes.
