NASCAR Motivational Speaker Larry McReynolds is a beloved former crew chief turned TV analyst. Larry helped guide the race teams of some of NASCAR’s biggest names including the late Dale Earnhardt, Ernie Irvan, Ricky Rudd and Davey Allison. He has left his mark on the entire sport of NASCAR and is highly regarded as one of the greatest crew chiefs to ever do it. Larry has served as an advisor to Petty Enterprises and operates his own race team, Larry McReynolds Racing. He currently works for FOX Sports as a colorful analyst for Sprint Cup races alongside Mike Joy and Darrell Waltrip. In addition, he does on-air work for TNT and Speed Network. Larry is a positive ambassador for the racing community and stay busy off the track as a motivational speaker and working with charity organizations.

Larry started in NASCAR in 1975 and worked his way up to crew chief by the 1985 season. In 1988, he won his first race as crew chief with the help of driver Ricky Rudd. In 1992, Larry got his first ever Daytona 500 crew chief win when Davey Allison took the checkered flag. In 1998, after being a part of Richard Childress Racing for two years, Larry won the Daytona 500 again, this time with Dale Earnhardt. This was Earnhardt’s only Daytona 500 victory in his career. At the time of retirement, Larry had surpassed an impressive stat: his teams finished in the Top-10 47% of the time giving him a total of 23 victories and 21 poles. He was awarded the Copenhagen/Skoal All Pro Crew Chief Award five consecutive years from 1991-1995.

By the end of the 2000 season, NASCAR Motivational Speaker Larry decided to move out of the pits and into the broadcast booth for FOX.

Larry’s distinct voice and passion for the sport makes him a great on-air analyst and motivational speaker for events. Each race week, Larry offers key insight on the inner-working of race teams including body/engine design, on-track and pit road strategy as well as the relationship between driver and crew chief. In 2014, Larry hosted an event at Sonoma Raceway benefiting youth charities in Sonoma County, California. Larry has written two books entitled, The Big Picture: My Life from Pit Road to the Broadcast Booth and How to Become a Winning Crew Chief. In them he discusses his different professional roles and the triumphs and tribulations that come with them.
