Action Sports Speaker Kikkan, a native of Salt Lake City who moved to Alaska, was a talented cross-country runner in high school who used cross-country skiing as a training method. It didn’t take long for her to realize her exceptional abilities on skis and began competing in junior events. The following Olympics she would best her own mark and finish 6th in the cross-country event, a record which she hopes better in 2014 in Sochi. During the 2009 season, she became the first American woman to win a medal at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with a silver medal finish and recently won the World Championship in team sprint with fellow skier and Olympian Jessie Diggins.
