Sports Speaker Jonathan Toews is a professional hockey player for the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL. After just 1 season with the team, he became the team’s captain in 2009, a position he still holds today. Jonathan is the third youngest player ever to be named captain in the NHL. A natural born leader, Jonathan has since lead the Blackhawks to 3 Stanley Cup titles including their most recent win in 2015.

Jonathan spent 2 years playing college hockey at The University of North Dakota before being selected as the 3rd overall pick by the Blackhawks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He wasted no time getting down to business, scoring on his first shot in his first game against the San Jose Sharks in 2007. He scored 5 goals and recorded 5 assists in his first 10 games with the team. This was the second longest point scoring streak in NHL history and the guy was just a rookie!

The next year, Sports Speaker Jonathan Toews was named team captain and helped to begin to change the culture of the organization. They expected to win, and win they did. They won their first of 3 Stanley Cup titles in 2010 and Jonathan received the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP. The second and third Stanley Cup titles came in 2013 and 2015.

Sports Speaker Jonathan Toews has also tasted Olympic Gold. As a member of a powerhouse Canadian National team, Jonathan has won two Olympic Gold Medals. His first came at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games played in Vancouver, Canada much to the delight of the hometown crowd. Jonathan led the team with 8 total points. His second Gold Medal as a member of Team Canada came at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
