Biography:

Celebrity speaker and college football coach Jimbo Fisher is currently the head coach at Florida State University. Florida State has long since been known as a football powerhouse under the legendary coach Bobby Bowden and Jimbo served under Bowden as the offensive coordinator from 2006-2011 as the “coach in waiting.” Since taking over the head coaching job, Jimbo has led the Seminoles to 4 ACC Championship titles in 5 years and won the National Title in 2013. Jimbo is easily considered one of the most prominent head coaches in the college football ranks right now and he has the opportunity to leave a legacy much like that of his predecessor.

Sports speaker Jimbo was a quarterback himself in college, playing his freshman season at Salem International University under Bobby Bowden’s son Terry. Terry accepted a job at Samford University following the 1986 season and Jimbo would follow him to play his final season under the head coach. He played one year of professional football in the Arena Football League before returning to Samford to coach under Terry as a graduate assistant. As is the case with most tight-knit coaching staffs, he moved with Terry again in 1993 to take over as offensive coordinator at Auburn University until 1998. He spent one season at Cincinnati before accepting a job as the offensive coordinator under Les Miles at LSU. Follwing a successful stint at LSU from 2000-2006, Jimbo turned down an opportunity to join Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama to coach under Bobby Bowden at Florida State and the rest is history.

Fisher along with his wife, Candi Fisher, have a son who has a rare blood disease called Fanconi anemia. They created the Kidz1stFund to help fund research on the disease, support families affected by the disease and provide education to the general public about Fanconi anemia.
