With almost 30 years of coaching experience, NFL coach and sports speaker Jeff Fisher is the ninth most powerful coach in the NFL, according to NFL Media analyst Elliot Harrison. He is the fourth most experienced coach in the league, with 18 years of experience as a head coach. He has turned two teams around and trained three other powerful NFL head coaches, Gregg Williams, Jim Schwartz, and Mike Munchak. After graduating from USC, he hit the ground running and was drafted by the Chicago Bears to play defensive back. After playing for five years, he became a defensive assistant for the Bears. Over the next decade or so, he would go on to hold various coaching positions including the Philadelphia Eagles, the (then) Los Angeles Rams, the San Francisco 49’s, the (then) Houston Oilers. He followed the Oilers through their move to Tennessee and became the head coach there when the team was renamed the Titans. Starting in 2012, Fisher has been the head coach of the St. Louis Rams. Of his long career, some of his most notable moments include winning Super Bowl XX with the Bears, and winning the AFC championship with the Titans. In the AFC game, the team won on the last play of the game on a kickoff return and a lateral pass that would later be named the “Music City Miracle”. They would ultimately lose to the Rams in the Super Bowl, when Titans wide out Kevin Dyson was tackled on the 1 yard in a play that has since been named “The Tackle”. With high hopes for the season, Fisher and the Rams have taken to the field for summer workout, ready for the big season ahead. Fisher is also the co-chair for the NFL Competition Committee, which overlooks, you guessed it, competition in the league. They also propose new rules and amend old ones.
