Motivational Speaker Frank Robinson is a former MLB outfielder who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982. Frank was a swashbuckling power hitter who is the only player in MLB history to win both the American League and National League MVP award during his career. What’s more, Frank became the first African-American manager in MLB history when he was chosen as the player/coach of the Cleveland Indians during the 1975 season. Frank now works as a senior advisor to the Commissioner of Baseball, Rob Manfred.

As a player, teammate and coach, Motivational Speaker Frank Robinson led by example. He broke into the MLB with the Cincinnati Reds in 1956. He was named Rookie of the Year in his first season after tying the rookie record for home runs with 38. He was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 1966. There he helped the Orioles to the World Series title in his first season with the team. He led the league in batting average, home runs and RBI’s on his way to American League and World Series MVP awards. It was in Baltimore that Frank began to get involved in civil rights campaigns that advocated for equal race relations.

Over the course of 21 seasons in the MLB, Motivational Speaker Frank Robinson won 2 World Series titles (both with the Orioles), 2 MVP awards and made 14 All-Star appearances. His #20 was retired by both the Cincinnati Reds and the Baltimore Orioles. After his stint as a player/coach for the Indians, Frank took some time off from baseball. In 1981, he was hired to manage the San Francisco Giants. He went on to manage the Orioles and the Washington Nationals before working important jobs in the MLB’s front office.
