Erik Compton has been a fantastic golfer for a long time and each year his skills and confidence have improved. Through his life threatening situation of a critical condition that could have affected and nearly ended his playing career forever, Erik was able to persevere and continue on his mission to achieve greatness.

Sports speaker Erik Compton was born in Miami Florida and has US and Norwegian citizenship. He is most known for his two successful heart transplants. As a child he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy which causes the heart to not pump as it should. Before he turned twelve both of the heart transplants had been completed. At the age of twelve he continued his trek into the world of golf. He learned the game fairly quickly and when he became of age Erik was offered a scholarship to play at the University of Georgia. After graduation in 2001 Erik played on the nationwide tour two times; the first in 2002 and the second from 2005-2007. In 2003 he played on the Canadian tour dominating the competition two years in a row. As a non-member of the PGA Erik has competed in thirty events on the tour and made the cut eighteen times. His first major tour win was at the Mexico Open in 2011 which earned him a spot on the PGA tour in 2012. In 2014 Erik finished second at the U.S Open held in Pinehurst, North Carolina. He will be competing in the next Masters Tournament for his performance at Pinehurst.

Because of his unfortunate medical condition Erik was forced to make ride in golf carts on his PGA tour qualifying rounds although this was illegal per PGA rules. As an inspirational speaker, Erik loves to use his story as motivation to anyone going through a difficult situation. His non-profit organization “The Erik Compton Golf Classic” is the result of Erik’s dedication to support those struggling whether it is due to heart disease or any other factor.
