Sometimes you can find talent in the strangest of places, including (but not limited to) a once-a-week recreational snowboard class. Up until his high school graduation, this is where you could find (now) professional snowboarder and sports speaker Eric Willett. But when you’re born to do something, a little thing like experience won’t get in your way. Soon after turning pro, Willett broke into the lime light with an impressive performance at the Burton Global Open Series. His professional debut came at the 2010 X Games where he took the silver medal! Every year since then he has gone back to the X games to compete, consistently ranking in the top ten snowboarders in the world. 2012 proved to be a break out year for Willett, clinching a Dew Tour win and ultimately finishing third in the rankings. He continued to dominate in the Euro X Games, taking bronze. As he marched into 2013, he secured at top-5 finish at the X Games again, won two major air titles, and placed second twice in the World Snowboard Tour. As 2014 rolled around all the world’s elite snowboarders were vying for a spot in the Winter Olympic Games, and Willett was no exception, until an unfortunate crash caused a season ending injury to his upper back that will keep him off the slopes competitively until the 2015 season! With Willett’s many successes has come many sponsorship deals, including BOA Technology, Breckenridge, Flux Bindings, Rome Snowboards, and Smith! Of course, the ultimate boarder has to have sick kicks, so he landed himself a deal with Vans, and to document it all he has GoPro along for the ride! On the average winter day, you will find Willett and his younger brother, Willett, pushing each other to do their best. Besides snowboarding, he loves mountain biking and skateboarding.
