The high-flying, posturizing, former NBA forward Dominique Wilkins is most known for his spectacular slam dunks and rebound grabbing capabilities. Dominique, also known as “The Human Highlight Film played for the Atlanta Hawks for most of his NBA career putting the franchise in the national spotlight many times throughout his 11 seasons there.

Sports speaker Dominique Wilkins grew up in North Carolina after being born in Paris, France. In high school he was a superior ball player to many of his opponents and the stats clearly show it. Dominique was offered a scholarship to play basketball at the University of Georgia and did so well he was named SEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year. He was selected third in the 1982 NBA draft behind James Worthy and Terry Cummings. With Dominique on their side the Hawks went on a winning rampage racking up a total of 4 consecutive 50+ win seasons. He won his first of two slam dunk titles in 1985 with the second coming later in 1990. Dominique is a 9x All-star selection. He has also the Atlanta Hawk’s all-time leading scorer and a member of the 2006 hall of fame class.

After retirement Dominique could not stay away from the game so he accepted a position to be the Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Atlanta Hawks. Apart from working for the Hawks Dominique is always keeping busy. In 2009 he participated in the NBA Celebrity All-Star game. The next year he signed a deal with 24 hour fitness to begin the Dominique Wilkins Basketball Academy which holds private workout sessions and training camps in Hawaii. Maintaining a healthy diet is important to Dominique so he makes sure to do his part in informing kids about their nutrition. After losing both his father and grandfather to diabetes Dominique filmed commercials for a company vouching for their pledge to increase awareness of malnutrition and its effects on children.
