2011 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Deion “Prime Time” Sanders is one of the most versatile and gifted athletes out there—playing cornerback, wide receiver, and return specialist in the NFL, outfielder in the MLB, and juggling baseball, track, and football in college, saying that Sports Speaker Deion is talented would be an understatement. He is the only player to play in both a Super Bowl and World Series, as well as to score an NFL touchdown and hit a MLB home run in the same week.

Though Deion’s NFL career lasted fourteen years, for nine of those years he split his time in MLB, playing with four different teams: the Yankees, the Braves, the Giants, and the Reds. Deion became the 1992 NL Triples Champion, given to the player who leads the league in triples that season. However, Deion decided that his first love would always be football, and soon he turned to the sport fulltime. Whether he was playing for the Falcons, the 49ers, the Cowboys, or the Ravens, the revered All-Pro has a laundry list of achievements and records, from being named to ESPN’s 100 Greatest Athletes of the Century to inductions in the Pro and College Football Halls of Fame. With eight Pro Bowls, two Super Bowl wins, and countless interceptions, Deion was without a doubt a force to be reckoned with.

Deion has had plenty of airtime, from hosting for Saturday Night Live and appearing in ads for Pizza Hut, Nike, Pepsi, and Burger King to commentating on ESPN, CBS, and even the 2002 Miss USA Pageant. He also co-hosted the GMA Music Awards in 2004 and was featured in several MC Hammer music videos. Additionally, the Hall of Famer let the cameras into his life for his second reality television show, Deion’s Family Playbook. Prime Time has definitely lived up to his nickname and become a pop culture icon.

However, Deion’s career has also had its lows, which he chronicles in his autobiography Power, Money & Sex: How Success Almost Ruined My Life. After great mentors saved his own life, Deion now serves as a mentor to others, such as NFL success Devin Hester. He also led efforts to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims, encouraging professional athletes to donate to the relief fund. During the holidays, Sanders Claus travels to hospitals and delivers gifts to the children.
