New England Patriots fans cringe when they hear the name, David Tyree and rightfully so. Sports Speaker for Hire, David Tyree is a former player for the New York Giants who stunned the undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII with arguably the greatest Super Bowl catch of all time. In his 7 seasons in the NFL, 6 spent with the Giants and 1 with the Baltimore Ravens, David was a key role player for both offenses. He knows what it takes to be a professional on and off the field and he was able to set an example for those around him. Currently, David serves as a mentor for players as the Director of Player Development for the New York Giants.

David was a solid back up receiver for the Giants when he broke into the NFL and a crucial member of their special teams unit. He made the Pro Bowl in 2005 for his efforts on special teams. All of his hard work and preparation led him to his defining moment in his career: the infamous “helmet catch”. On 3rd down and 5 yards to gain and 1:15 left on the clock in Super Bowl XLII, quarterback Eli Manning heaved a 32 yard pass into the air. David stretched for the ball, catching it and pulling it down against his helmet as Pro Bowler Rodney Harrison violently tried to knock it out of his hands. Somehow, David held the ball against his helmet and never let it touch the ground that was inches away. This catch, later voted as the 2008 ESPY Play of the Year, set up the game winning touchdown pass 4 plays later. David and the Giants won Super Bowl XLII against the Patriots and ended their bid as only the second team in NFL history to finish the entire season undefeated.

After bouts with alcohol addiction throughout his life, David found his calling for a higher purpose and dedicated his life to Jesus. In 2008 and 2009, David was a part of the Christian concert Battle Cry showing his devotion to his Lord and Savior. In 2006, David and his wife Leilah started the project Next in Line, which guides teenagers  in the right direction away from drugs and alcohol. David continues to spread God’s word through charity events, and resides with Leilah and his 6 kids in the great state of New York.
