Biography:

David Beckham is a former British soccer player. He was the first English player to win league titles in four countries. In addition, Beckham won the Premier League title six times and the FA Cup twice. Beckham was the first British footballer to play 100 Champions League matches. In 2004, he was named as one of the Top 125 greatest living footballers in FIFA’s 100th anniversary celebration.

Sports Speaker Beckham led Manchester United to a Premier League title and FA Cup double in the 1995 season, scoring a crucial game-winning goal in the semifinal of the FA Cup. The next year, Beckham helped Manchester United retain the Premier League championship and was voted PFA Young Player of the Year. During the 1998-1999 season, Beckham led Manchester United to win The Treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, an incredible feat in soccer. In addition, Beckham helped United win the Premier League title by scoring an equalizing goal against huge rival club Arsenal.  In the 1999 season, Beckham scored five goals in United’s final 11 games to help lead them to a Premier League title. After this incredible year, Beckham was voted runner up for the 1999 European Footballer of the Year and FIFA World Player of the Year award. In 2000-2001, Beckham scored nine goals in helping United win their third successive league title, making United only the fourth team to ever do this. The 2001-2002 season was an incredible year for Beckham as a United player; he scored 11 goals in 28 league games. In four seasons with Real Madrid after playing for Manchester United, Beckham won a La Liga championship. In 2012, Beckham helped the Los Angeles Galaxy to retain the MLS Cup, scoring seven goals and nine assists in the regular season. Beckham is the only English player to ever score in three world cups.

Beckham is a frequent spokesperson for clothing designers, health and fitness specialists, fashion magazines, hair stylists, and spa and recreation companies. Beckham has also endorsed various companies, including Pepsi, Samsung, BSkyB, and EA Sports. His name has been used for the title of several soccer video games. Beckham has served as a UNICEF Ambassador and has contributed to the United Against AIDS campaign and Elton John AIDS Foundation. Along with Andy Murray, Beckham is a founding member of the Malaria No More UK charity.
