Boogity, boogity, boogity let’s go racing boys! The legendary NASCAR Keynote Speaker behind these iconic words uttered before each race on FOX is none other than FOX Sports Analyst Darrell Waltrip. Nicknamed “DW”, Darrell works in the FOX Sports booth alongside Larry McReynolds, Mike Joy and Steve Byrnes. Before becoming one of the most recognized voices in NASCAR, Darrell spent his fair share of years as a successful racer. He raced from 1972 to 2000, tallying an astonishing 28 seasons behind the wheel. His exuberant personality has given him the opportunity to appear in many commercials as a celebrity spokesperson for organizations including Toyota, Kmart, Wendy’s, Aarons and Autolite.

As a driver, Darrell was considered the total package. Everyone knew he could race but his ability to articulate in interviews and his good relationship with the media allowed his fan base to grow rapidly. Thus allowing for this talented driver to reel in offers from big time sponsors such as Budweiser, Tide and Pepsi. During his career he recorded 84 race wins placing him 4th on the all-time wins list. He won the Winston Cup (now known as the Sprint Cup) 3 times in 1981, 1982 and 1985. In 1989, Darrell finally won the big race, the Daytona 500. At the conclusion of his career, he was named as one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers (1998) and inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2012.

After hanging up his helmet at the conclusion of the 2000 season, Darrell began his career on the air at the 2001 Daytona 500. His brother Michael Waltrip took home the checkered flag but the racing world lost a legend in the tragic accident that killed Dale Earnhardt. Since then he has taken over the NASCAR airwaves with his colorful commentating style. In 2007 he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Event Analyst. In 2004, he published his New York Times best seller Darrell Waltrip: A Lifetime Going Around in Circles.

Darrell and his brother Michael,NASCAR Keynote Speakers, started the Waltrip Brothers’ Charity which helps support charitable organizations like Feed the Children, Motor Racing Outreach and Tucker’s House for Children with Disabilities.
