The Wright Brothers have nothing on Clyde “The Glide”! Sports Speaker Clyde Drexler is a former professional basketball player that played 12 seasons with the Portland Trailblazers and 3 three seasons with the Houston Rockets. He is best remembered for his aerial acrobatics and emphatic slam dunks. Clyde was part of the memorable 1992 Dream Team that crushed opponents and took home the gold medal in the summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. More recently in 2015, Clyde appeared in a March Madness commercial campaign for AT&T alongside Shaquille O’Neal, Julius Erving and Christian Laettner. Since his playing days, Sports Speaker Clyde Drexler has worked as a color commentator for Houston Rockets games.

Clyde found his wings on the court at the University of Houston. He, along with Hakeem Olajuwon and Larry Micheaux comprised college’s most famous high-soaring fraternity dubbed Phi Slama Jama. After making two national championship appearances in his three seasons with the Cougars, Clyde was drafted by Trailblazers with the 14th pick of the first round. In just his third season in the NBA, Clyde made his first All-Star game. During the 1990-1991 season, he led the Trailblazers to a 63-19 record, which was a franchise best. In 1995, after reuniting with former collegiate teammate and good friend Olajuwon, Clyde won the NBA championship with the Houston Rockets. Sports Speaker Clyde Drexler retired as a 10-Time NBA All-Star and All Time leading scorer for the Trailblazers. He is one of only three players in NBA history to have at least 20,000 points, 6,000 rebounds and 6,000 assists.

Clyde knows how to entertain an audience. Throughout his career he made cameo appearances on TV shows such as Married with Children, Pros vs. Joes and Celebrity Apprentice. In 2007, he showed off his dance moves on the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars with partner Elena Grinenko. In 2004, he wrote the book, Clyde the Guide: My Life in Basketball, with the help of former classmate and CBS announcer Jim Nantz.

Sports Speaker Clyde Drexler is the face of the non-profit I Am Waters Foundation, which provides safe and clean drinking water for the homeless. He also is a strong supporter of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the Lenny Wilkens Foundation.
