Sports Speaker Christen Press is a professional football forward who has a knack for finding the back of the net. Her scoring prowess and killer-instincts helped the U.S. Women’s National Team to their first World Cup victory in 16 years, defeating Japan 5-2 in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Christen currently plays professionally for the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Christen spent her college career playing for the Stanford Cardinal- finishing her career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with an absurd 71 goals as well as a school record of 10 game-winning goals in a season. In 2007, Christen was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year as well as First-Team Freshman All-American. Her senior season saw her lead the nation in scoring and points, scoring 26 goals to tie a school record set the previous year by Stanford and U.S. Women’s National Team teammate Kelley O’Hara. She was also the recipient of the 2010 MAC Hermann Trophy given to the best player in college soccer each year.

Upon finishing her college career, Christen was selected 4th overall in the 2011 WPS Draft. Her rookie season with the magicJack was highlighted by a hat trick in a contest against the Boston Breakers, the first ever hat trick by a rookie in WPS history. Sports Speaker Christen was named the 2011 U.S. Football Federation Rookie of the Year and soon headed to play professionally in Sweden upon the disbandment of the WPS.

Christen began her overseas career for Kopparbergs/Goteborg FC, a team in the highest division in Sweden. In her first season in Sweden, Christen led the team to the Sweden Cup Championship, scoring a goal in the 9th minute to defeat Tyreso FF. The following year saw Christen join Tyreso FF, concluding the 2013 season as the league’s top scorer with 23 goals.

Throughout her pro soccer career, Sports Speaker Christen Press has represented the U.S. in both U-20 and U-23 teams. In 2012, Christen traveled with the U.S. Women’s National Team as an alternate for the 2012 London Olympics. In her very first match with the USWNT, Sports Speaker Christen scored two goals and assisted a third.
