In a predominantly male dominated industry, American broadcast journalist and Motivational Speaker Cari Champion stands out among the rest. Cari makes regular appearances on ESPN programs as an in-studio host and is currently the host of ESPN2’s First Take. She also hosts her own podcast Be Honest with Cari Champion, a real and honest look at the world of sports and pop culture.

Motivational Speaker Cari Champion was drawn to the journalism field after graduating from UCLA in 1998. She has stated that she wanted to get into the journalism field because she wanted to give a voice to those that don’t feel like they have one. She began honing her on-air skills as a local TV reporter in West Virginia and eventually worked with stations in California and Florida. She took a leap of faith in 2009 and applied for a job at the Tennis Channel after falling in love with the sport. Cari was one of only 3 women out of a pool of 50 applicants to get a call back.  She was subsequently hires and reported courtside form events as well as anchored the channel’s Court Report segment.

In 2012, Motivational Speaker Cari Champion hit the big time as the new host of ESPN2’s First Take. Cari has covered so many different aspects of news from network news, entertainment news and sports stories. She has also traveled all over the country covering for ABC, CBS, NBC, and other cable networks. Her various career aspects and her determination to stand out has made Cari a force to be reckoned with in the sports journalism industry.
