Sports Speaker Cam Newton has already made strides in his young football career—just before being selected by the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL Draft as the number one draft, the quarterback won the Heisman Trophy in 2010 for his college football accomplishments at Auburn University; the only two other players that have ever accomplished this feat are Angelo Bertelli and Leon Hart. While at his alma mater Auburn, Cam led the Tigers to a 2010 National Championship Title after an undefeated season before entering the NLF.

Cam’s rookie season for the Panthers met and exceeded expectations. In his groundbreaking NFL debut, he threw 400 yards, easily hedging out Peyton Manning’s old record and additionally shattering the sixty-one year old record for most passing yards by a quarterback in their first game. By the end of his rookie season, Cam held the record the most yards rushed and thrown by a first-year quarterback and the most touchdown runs in a season by any quarterback. It is no surprise that Cam received the Pepsi Cola Rookie of the Year and the Associated Press Rookie of the Year. Cam continues to lead the Panthers each season with persistent dedication; most recently in 2014 his hard work led to his selection for the 2014 Pro Bowl.

Somehow Cam managed to break another record before setting foot onto the professional field when his endorsement with Under Armour became the largest deal ever signed to an incoming NFL rookie. He is additionally sponsored by Gatorade. Cam is also Christian, and runs The Cam Newton Foundation, which is partnered with Cam’s sponsors as well as Microsoft, EA Sports, Carolinas Healthcare System, Beats Electronics, and Belk. His foundation reaches out to kids of all socioeconomic needs and provides emotional, physical, and educational support through events and mentoring. Cam has appeared on the covers of GQ and Sports Illustrated, and was a finalist for the Madden 2013 and 2015 covers.
