Biography:

Sports Speaker Brett Favre is a former American quarterback in the National Football League. Favre spent 16 of his 20 seasons as a player with the Green Bay Packers and retired in 2008. Favre grew up playing baseball and football, but as the son of a football coach, he decided to pursue his football career at the University of Southern Mississippi, which was the only school to offer him a scholarship. He set many records while in school, and in 1991 the Atlanta Falcons drafted him as the 33rd pick. The following year, the Falcons traded Favre to the Packers. He became a starter for the Packers after fellow quarterback, Don Majkowski, injured his ankle.

Favre’s dedication and passion for the sport is evident through his career accomplishments. He is an 11-time Pro Bowl player, three-time AP First-Team All-Pro and a Super Bowl champion. He also has accomplished multiple firsts in NFL history, such as being the first NFL player to win three consecutive AP MVP awards, the only quarterback to defeat all NFL franchises, and the only quarterback to win a playoff game over the age of 40. His renowned durability is demonstrated through his success as being one of seven quarterbacks to start more than 100 consecutive games, and he is the record-holder for the most consecutive starts in the NFL by any player. His consecutive streak is highly regarded as one of the most notable streaks in sports.

Sports Speaker Brett Favre wrote an autobiography, Favre For The Record, which was published in 1997, and over 100,000 copies were sold. Later that year, the quarterback published a cookbook with his family entitled Favre Family Cookbook: Three Generations of Cajun and Creole Cooking from the Gulf Coast. Favre co-wrote FAVRE with his mother. The updated biography has sold approximately 270,000 copies and was on the New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction Best-Seller List.

His hard work extends into the world of philanthropy, in which he is involved with multiple charities. Favre established the Brett Favre Fourward Foundation, now called the Favre 4 Hope Foundation, which has donated more than $2 million to charities in Mississippi and Wisconsin. As a result of his service, the Make a Wish Foundation awarded Favre with the Chris Greicius Celebrity Award.

He has been a part of numerous endorsement and sponsorship deals with major companies such as Wrangler Jeans, Sears and Sprint. He has had deals with sports-related companies, including Nike Golf, DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket. Favre has held endorsements with many other companies, both in Wisconsin and nationally.
