Bill Parcells has had a long and illustrious coaching career. He is the mentor of many current coaches in the NFL today and has influenced many more. The talent of leading his players onto the field and motivating them to work their hardest each week is something that was not natural to Bill, but seemingly came to him over time with practice. Bill’s name and reputation precedes him. He is known as one of the toughest, yet most caring coaches to ever see the sidelines. Players gravitate towards him because of the family-oriented, tough-love locker room he provided them with.

Sports speaker Bill Parcells first coaching position came from Hastings College in 1964. Since then Bill held a coaching position at 7 different universities across the country. His first crack at an NFL defense was with the New England Patriots in 1980 under head coach Ron Erhardt. Just three years later Bill had proved himself a worthy candidate and thus was offered the head coaching position of the New York Giants. Bill has coached the Giants, the New England Patriots, the New York Jets, and the Dallas Cowboys. He has been a big influence on the careers of many hall of fame football players. Names topping the list include Drew Bledsoe, Keyshawn Johnson, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, and Lawrence Taylor. His coaching mentees have all been successful as well. Sean Payton, Tom Coughlin, and Bill Belichick lead this list.

It was very difficult for Bill to end his coaching career; so difficult he decided to lend his management skills to NFL organizations because he could not stay away from the game. His goal was to mentor younger coaches in the same he had been molded at the beginning of his coaching career. In 2007 Bill was named the Executive VP of Football Operations for the Miami Dolphins.
