Motivational Speaker Andre Iguodala is a professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors. Andre helped the Warriors defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015 NBA Finals, winning the series 4-2. He was relentless in his defensive efforts to stop arguably the greatest player in the NBA in Lebron James and contributed timely buckets on the offensive end. Andre was named the 2015 Finals MVP for his performance in the series. He is the only player in history to win the award without starting a game in the regular season and also the only player to win the award without starting every game in the Finals. Known as a stat-sheet stuffer, Andre is an extremely versatile player and the consummate teammate, often sacrificing his own glory for the betterment of the team.

Motivational Speaker Andre Iguodala began his career playing college ball for the Arizona Wildcats. In his freshman season, Andre would be named to the 2002-2003 Pac 10 All-Freshmen team. The following year, Andre became a prominent name in college basketball; he was named team MVP as well as the All-Pac 10 First Team and earned Honorable Mention All-American honors by the Associated Press.

He declared for the 2004 NBA Draft after 2 strong years at Arizona. Andre was selected 9th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Andre proved himself to be NBA ready, starting every game of the season for the 76ers. In his 4th season with the team, Andre posted career highs with 19.9 points per game and 2.1 steals per game. The 2011-2012 season was Andre’s most successful season as a 76er. The season was shortened due to an owner’s lockout, dropping the season from 82 to 66 games. During this lockout, Andre completed a one-week internship at Merrill Lynch. When the season resumed in December, Andre was all-business in a different way, making his first All-Star game appearance and leading the 76ers to a thrilling first-round playoff upset over the #1 seed Chicago Bulls. This marked only the 5th time in NBA history that an #8 seed defeated a #1 seed in the playoffs. This season would be the last of Andre’s eight seasons with the 76ers.

In August of 2012, Andre was part of a four-team trade that dealt him to the Denver Nuggets. His only season in Denver would end in disappointment after a first-round playoff loss to the Golden State Warriors. Andre also represented the United States during this span of his career. In 2010 he helped the U.S. win gold at the FIBA World Championship and also helped lead the U.S. to the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The Golden State Warriors traded for Andre prior to the 2013-2014 season. The Warriors saw immediate dividends from the trade as Andre hit a game-winning buzzer beater on November 14th against the Oklahoma City Thunder. On January 3rd, he would hit another game-winner, this time a three-pointer as time expired to defeat the Atlanta Hawks. After a moderately successful 2013 season, the Warriors brought in rookie head coach Steve Kerr to run the team. Kerr made the decision to have Andre come off the bench as opposed to starting, something very unusual for Andre. He had actually held an NBA-high of 806 games as starter, never once coming off the bench. Andre graciously accepted his new role and the results certainly paid off; the Warriors would set a franchise record with 67 wins and make it to the 2015 NBA Finals. After trailing 2-1 in the series, Andre was inserted back into the starting lineup where his impact as a starter resulted in a Finals MVP award and the franchise’s first Finals win in 40 years.

Throughout his success, Motivational Speaker Andre Iguodala has continued to lend a helping hand in his community. In 2006, he started the Andre Iguodala Disaster Relief Fund which benefited tornado victims in his hometown of Springfield, Illinois. He also heads the Andre Iguodala Youth Foundation in order to use sports to benefit youths. The foundation hosts the annual Thanksgiving with Dre Event, in which Andre and his team volunteer to deliver food baskets to less fortunate families.
