Alexander Ovechkin is a NHL player for the Washington Capitals. He is known for winning the Rocket Richard Trophy, Art Ross Trophy, Lester B. Pearson Award, and the Hart Memorial Trophy during the 2007-2008 season. During the same year, he also led Team Russia to a gold medal at the World Championships.

Sports Speaker Alexander Ovechkin had a remarkable rookie year, finishing third overall in the NHL in points and goals. He was also named to the NHL First All-Star Team, becoming the first rookie to receive this honor in 15 years. After the season ended, Ovechkin earned the Calder Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the Rookie of the Year. After this season, Ovechkin was featured as one of the cover athletes for EA’s video game NHL 07. Ovechkin led the league in scoring during the 2007-2008 season with 65 goals and 112 points, marking the first time in 41 seasons that a left-winger led the NHL in points since the 1965-1966 season. Because of this accomplishment, Ovechkin also won all four major hockey awards.  During the 2008-2009 season, Ovechkin became only the fourth player in NHL history to reach the 200 goal milestone in four seasons. By the end of 2013, Ovechkin had reached 400 career goals, reaching this mark with the 6th fastest pace in NHL history. He also led the league in goals, winning his third Rocket Richard and Hart Memorial trophies.

In 2008, Ovechkin launched his own line of designer streetwear with CCM. The following year, he was named an ambassador for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Ovechkin has been named GQ’s 48th most powerful person in D.C.  He has also been featured as a cover athlete for NHL 2K10. During the 2010-2011 season, he was featured in an ESPN This is SportsCenter commercial. Ovechkin has endorsed various companies, including Bauer, Nike, Gillette, and Coca-Cola.
