Biography:

From football, to tennis, to horse racing, broadcaster and Sports Speaker Chris Fowler has done it all. Identified primarily for his work on College GameDay for ESPN, Fowler began at the previous NBC affiliate KCNC-TV in Denver as a production assistant, producer, writer, and sports reporter. In 1984, he worked as an intern in the same city at KMGH-TV in the sports department. Honing his skills and transitioning into his ESPN career in 1986, he hosted Scholastic Sports America, before becoming a college football sideline reporter at ESPN in 1988 for two seasons.

After getting acclimated to the ESPN setting, Fowler became an anchor for ESPN’s College GameDay in 1990 and eventually expanded to other ESPN Saturday college segments in 1991. In addition to hosting men’s college basketball on ESPN until 2006, he also worked with ESPN’s Summer X Games from 1995 to 2000, as well as the Winter X Games from 1998 to 2000. As if Fowler does not already possess enough experience, he is also the head ESPN studio anchor for tennis tournaments such as the four major Grand Slams — Wimbledon, Australian Open, French Open, and US Open. In addition to tennis, Fowler also covered the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, alongside announcer Mike Tirico.

More recently, Fowler is to become the new play-by-play announcer for the Saturday Night Football series on ABC, replacing the previous broadcaster Brent Musburger. While also continuing his career on College GameDay for ESPN, he has been chosen to announce a College Football Playoff Semifinal game and the College Football National Championship in 2014. To top off his long list of undertakings, he is also currently the host of the ESPN classic show SportsCentury. With a broad range of experience in diverse areas of the sports industry, Fowler has proven himself to be both an exceptional broadcaster and a remarkable keynote speaker.
